Hobby Lobby Wax Melt Reviews - August 2022
August 28, 2022
This is a review of Hobby Lobby DD Wax Melts from August 2022.
Citrus Fruits, Sugared Musk & Black Currant
This scent was out of stock at the time of this review, so it's not part of my video review. I expected it to be an apple pie scent, but it's not. It's rich strawberry, with maybe a hint of blueberry mixed in. It's very sweet, and on cold sniff it smells like it might have a smidgen of Pink Sugar or cotton candy, but I don't smell that when melting. It's not entirely foodie though, so there could be some kind of a perfumey note way in the background, although it's not a perfumey scent at all. I like it! Looking at the notes, I'm not getting citrus, and it's too sweet to be currant (although that could indeed be in the background), and there's the musk.
Black Sand & Cashmere
Rich Cashmere, Water Lily & Liquid Amber
I can't tell what I'm smelling, but it's pleasant. It's a bit of a perfumey scent with light wood (but not sandalwood), a little bit of red currant, and a tiny bit of warm amber. It's sweet but not overly sweet.
Cedar in Spring
White Cedar, Heliotrope Flowers & Amber
On cold sniff I'm getting exotic spices like frankincense, a bit of cinnamon, a hint of sweet floral, and maybe a smidgen of an herbal note. But when melted, it's an herbal scent with maybe a hint of bergamot that gives it a tiny bit of a cologne or body wash note, a hint of floral, and a smidgen of slightly salty, slightly savory herbs. It's nice, but kind of non-descript, and similar to a lot of other scents.
Lime Sherbet, Sugar Crystals & Neroli Blossoms
I think this is going to be the most popular scent of this collection. It smells like a combination of lime, orange creamsicle, and super sweet vanilla cream soda! It has a bit of a fizzy note, but not so much that it's overwhelming. I adore this hoard-worthy scent! Looking at the notes, I'm not getting neroli or any floral notes. This one is so strong, your neighbors will smell it! And it lasted the entire day.
Seashore, Coconut & Vanilla
This scent was out of stock at the time of this review, so it's not part of my video review. I'm not a fan of this one. I definitely get the coconut, as well as a salty, slightly briney, oceany water note. But it's not sweet at all, and actually quite vinegary and a bit sour. It might smell better mixed with something sweet.
Frosty Mocha Latte
Mocha, Peppermint & Vanilla Coffee
This scent was out of stock at the time of this review, so it's not part of my video review. It's a nice scent of milky vanilla, peppermint, and a little bit of mocha. It doesn't have nearly as much mocha as I was hoping it would. I can detect a little bit of milk chocolate and just a smidgen of coffee, but it's mostly vanilla and peppermint, and not overly sweet. It's a nice scent.
Lavender Sea Salt #14
Lavender & Patchouli
This scent was out of stock when I did my review video, but I found it a week later. It's a fantastic scent of sweet lavender with a soapy note that makes it smell a bit like lavender scented bubble bath. I think I'm getting the patchouli note, but it's not really patchouli, and it's quite subtle, more like baby powder (which could be Nag Champa) and warm amber. I love this scent!
Let's Stay In
Citrus Fruits, Sugared Musk & Black Currant
This scent was out of stock at the time of this review, so it's not included in the video. But I can see why it was sold out, because it's incredible! It's a sweet, slightly salty, slightly tart raspberry lemonade type scent with plum and/or blackberry, and perhaps a hint of floral and musk. It's not a floral or perfumey scent at all, but it's also not completely foodie, so there must be a floral or perfumey note in there somewhere.
Wild Fern, Crystal Water & Pink Moss
Pine, a fresh air note, and maybe a hint of sage that gives it a tiny bit of a savory herbal note. It's only a tiny bit sweet (perhaps a smidgen of grassy florals way, way in the background?) with a little bit of a bergamot note, although it's not a cologne or body wash type scent, but it could be if it were sweeter and less sagey/piney. I like it! Looking at the notes, no pine in this scent that smells like pine (well, maybe 65% pine) and has "Pines" in the name!
Bergamot, Sage Clary & Walnut
Coconut with cedar and a bit of a slightly sweet, grassy floral note. It's not a coconut mahogany type scent, which has more of a cologne note. It's kind of like ScentSationals Coconut Sands mixed with cedar and grassy floral notes. Looking at the notes, I'm not getting bergamot (this doesn't have any cologne notes), and definitely no nutty notes of any kind. The sage could be the cedary grassy note which is a bit herbal, but sage is a savory herb, and I'm not getting any savory notes from this scent. I'm very surprised that coconut is not listed, because that's the predominant note. It's a pleasant scent.
Lilac, Sweet Pea & Rosewood
Fantastic scent of hyacinth (similar to lilac) with a very slightly bitter fresh, grassy note that makes it smell a little bit like a hothouse flower. It's similar to Sonoma Bamboo from Kohl's, but not the same scent. Looking at the notes, I'm not getting sweet pea, and I don't think I detect rose (although that could be where that smidgen of bitterness is coming from). Fantastic scent!
Vanilla & Berry Amber
Vanilla, Berry & Sandalwood
A fantastic scent of raspberry and another berry or fruit, possibly plum. I'm also getting a smidgen of a woodsy note, as well as a tiny bit of a perfumey note (but not musk). I love it!
White Blossoms, Field Violet & Dark Patchouli
This scent was out of stock when I did my review video, but I found it a week later. It's a lovely, very sweet ambery scent with something in the background that gives it a slightly musty or old note, but not at all in a bad way. It almost has a hint of bourbon in the background, and a little bit of vanilla and maybe even a smidgen of caramel that give it a little bit of a foodie note. It's different and I really like it.
