Kohl's Sonoma Christmas Wax Melt Reviews 2015

This is a review of Sonoma Christmas 2015 wax melts from Kohl's. They are very nice winter and holiday type scents.

Balsam & Oak
Combination of wood and pine. It's not a smoky wood, but more of a raw wood, like pencil shavings. A nice rustic winter scent.

Balsam Fir
Crisp fir, pine and fresh balsam are enriched with cedarwood and oak moss to complement notes of winter musk and silver birch
A pine scent with a hint of something else I can't put my finger on, maybe a slight woodsy note or something that smells a little "old"? Melted, I don't detect that "old" note, just an authentic rich smoky spruce, like the sap of a spruce tree.

Falling Snow
Pure mint, with just a hint of sweetness. It's not sweet enough to be a candy cane scent, and it's not spearmint or "toothpaste" mint. Slightly peppermint, like the center of a peppermint patty. Also has a sinus-clearing menthol note. A nice chilly scent that almost makes the room feel cold, this would be a great scent to melt on a hot summer day!

Frosted Spruce
Pine with slight smoky "dirt" note, but not in a bad way. It does have a "chilliness", but I don't detect any mint. Maybe a hint of eucalyptus? Very similar to Woodland Pine, but I think Woodland Pine has more of a smoky spruce note, while Frosted Spruce is more eucalyptus. When melted, no there's no menthol or mint, and it's smoky like Woodland Pine. I can't figure out the difference between this one and Woodland Pine, as they're so similar.

Gingerbread House
Ginger and sparkling sugar blend with cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, butter & bourbon vanilla
This really smells like gingerbread, a rich bakery scent with spices. On cold sniff I detect nutmeg and ginger, with just a hint of cinnamon. This really smells like bread, and it's not very sweet. When melted, the cinnamon takes over and becomes a bit overwhelming. But if you like cinnamon, you'll probably love this one.

Holiday Cookies
Freshly baked sugar cookies topped with decadent buttercream frosting
Rich vanilla cookie bakery scent, like cookies right out of the oven. Sweet, but not overly sweet. And there may be just a smidgen of nut?

Holiday Eggnog
This is a chameleon scent that changes over time! On cold sniff this smells like Holiday Cookies but very slightly sweeter and with a hint of nutmeg (could use a little more nutmeg). But when melted, after about an hour the sweetness and the nutmeg started to dissipate, and it smelled like sweet warm buttery rolls or shortbread cookies. Several hours later, the sweetness was completely gone and it smelled like warm salty buttery dinner rolls or cornbread. This one lasted for 2 days!

Mistletoe & Holly
On cold sniff, it's bayberry and pine. This is what I think Winterberry & Pine should smell like. Melted, it smells like vinyl, like a new vinyl pool! Not a bad scent, just "different".

Roasted Chestnuts
I've smelled roasted chestnut scents before, and this doesn't smell like roasted chestnuts. Still a very nice scent, but it's a rich maple molasses scent with just a hint of nut.

Silver Spruce & Clove
I can't figure out the notes in this one. On cold sniff I do detect a hint of clove, but I think there's also nutmeg in there that gives it a very slight bakery note. And of course there's a hint of pine. It's a little like a pumpkin pie with a Christmas tree in the background. A little light on cold sniff. When melted, it smells like a very slightly licoricy (anise) vanilla cookie with a hint of pine. I'm not crazy about this one.

Winter Hearth
Unbelievably fantastic scent! This smells like sweet tobacco with caramel and a bit of clove and just a hint of smokiness, and possibly a smidgen of fig. It's a rich warm fragrance, sweet but not candy type sweet.

Winterberry & Pine
On cold sniff it's a slightly sweet subdued pine scent, with maybe a hint of vanilla and just a smidgen of bayberry. Melted, it's a super tart berry and balsam scent. The berry is probably bayberry, but it almost smells like tart strawberry. I really like it!

Woodland Pine
Sparkling icicles and frozen eucalyptus combine with white clove bud, balsam fir, cedarwood, amber and cool musk
Very similar to Frosted Spruce, but with a slight hint of eucalyptus. It has a slight sinus-clearing menthol effect, but not much. Frosted Spruce, Balsam Fir, and Woodland Pine are all very similar to each other.
