This is a review of the new Oak & Rye Fall 2020 wax melts from Kroger. These are all great scents and, for the most part, extremely strong throwers!
Caramel Apple Sangria
Notes: Creamy caramel swirls with cinnamon and clove spiced apples sweetened with brown sugar
A slightly sweeter, caramely, more apple-y version of Oh My Gourd, but less apple-y and less salty than ScentSationals Salted Caramel Apples. It smells incredible! It's smells exactly like ScentSationals Caramel Apple Spice, even the same wax color, and other people have said the same thing. Sniffing them side by side, I can't tell the difference. But the notes are a bit different (Caramel Apple Spice: "Sweet vanilla infused caramel, swirled with juicy ripe apples, a dash of cinnamon spice and deliciously accented by sugared sprinkles"). Those notes are very, very similar so I do think this is indeed the same scent.
Notes: The softness of brushed cashmere wrapped in tender white florals and warm golden amber, pure tranquil musks, and exotic precious woods
I've never smelled this scent before, and it's divine! It's a warm cashmere scent with a bit of patchouli and just a hint of a foodie spice like nutmeg or cinnamon. It's sweet and only slightly perfumey. I really don't smell the foodie note when melted, although there might be a hint of vanilla in there. On cold sniff I'm sure I detect a smidgen of mint or eucalyptus way in the background, but I don't smell that when melted. Looking at the notes, they're the same as ScentSationals Amber Cashmere, although I think Amber Cashmere is a little sweeter and more perfumey, but different batches of the same scent can sometimes have some subtle differences.
Oh My Gourd
Notes: Ripe Macintosh apple joins cinnamon spiced pumpkin, creamy caramel and hints of vanilla bean sweetened with brown sugar and a dusting of ground nutmeg
This is the same as ScentSationals Apple Pumpkin Spice. It's a super rich, slightly salty scent that smells a little like pretzels with apple, along with caramel and brown sugar, even though it's not overly sweet. That description sounds like ScentSationals Pumpkin Apple Muffins, but it's a different scent, not as salty, and with that rich, sweet, almost buttery caramel note. It (this scent, as well as Apple Pumpkin Spice) also smells almost exactly like ScentSationals Harvest Moon, and with very similar notes, but they're very slightly different (this scent is richer, with more caramel and brown sugar, and Harvest Moon has a little more apple cider). It's fantastic!
Notes: Homemade spice cake fuses freshly grated ginger root, brown sugar sweetened pumpkin, sparkling citrus orange, ground clove bud, grated cinnamon sticks and toasted allspice in a vanilla bean batter
This smells like a richer version of the Pumpkin Spice scent, and with more ginger. It's like the Pumpkin Spice scent with a bit of the Oak & Rye Spooky Spice (an oatmeal raisin cookie scent with ginger) scent mixed in. There are no coffee notes in this scent at all. Looking at the notes, they're the same as ScentSationals Pumpkin Spice Cake, which I described as pumpkin pie with gingerbread, and more nutmeg than other similar scents I've smelled. All these gingery, pumpkiny scents smell great, but they smell so similar to each other!
Notes: Creamy harvest pumpkin gleams with spicy hints of warm cinnamon and aromatic clove over delightfully rich vanilla, smooth buttercream, and a touch of brown sugar
This is the same as ScentSationals Pumpkin Spice. It smells like pumpkin pie with a little bit of gingerbread and a tiny bit of a pie crust note. It's authentic and smells great... Sweet, salty, pumpkiny and bready with just a smidgen of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Notes: Apple, pumpkin and cinnamon spice stirred with delicious caramel and maple whipped into vanilla infused buttercream
I thought this was the same scent as ScentSationals Waffle Love, but I don't think it is as I think I detect caramel, nutmeg and apple in the background of this scent (and looking at the notes, they're different). It rich and buttery and smells great! But melted, it has a subtle note in the background that I don't really care for, something just a tiny bit sour, not sure what it is.
