ScentSationals Walmart Wax Melts Reviews

MORE

These are reviews of ScentSationals wax melts from Walmart that are or were popular, are "core" scents that are always available, or even older scents that have been discontinued. This page is a good resource for comparing other scents, so if another scent I've reviewed smells like one of these scents, that review will link to this page.

Bali Shores
This scent is similar to the Fresh Air scent, but sweeter and richer. It's a fresh, clean watery scent with a soapy note, but also a very sweet floral like jasmine, musk (although it's not a perfumey scent), and possibly a smidgen of orange blossom that gives it a tiny bit of a beachy vibe (but it's not a Coppertone suntan oil type note). There could be a barely detectable smidgen of honeydew melon way in the background.

Fresh Air
This scent has been around for many years. A fresh, clean, very sweet scent with musk and floral notes (jasmine?), a hint of soapiness, and possibly a smidgen of coconut. There may also be a barely detectable hint of apple and vanilla way in the background. This is one of my favorite scents ever!

Molten Orange
Top notes of bright, sunny clementine, sweet orange, and sugared mandarin revealing vibrant notes of grated lemon zest, green citrus yuzu, lush greens, and a hint of warm citron woods
This is a very intense orange scent that might also include a hint of grapefruit and lemon, and a smidgen of red berries and satsuma (a type of mandarin with a strong, pungent, tart, slightly sour citrus scent). It's one of my favorite orange scents ever!

Simple Romance
Woodsy Vanilla
This is a different scent from Vanilla Woods. Like Vanilla Woods, it also has an oud note (a dark resinous tree sappy scent that sounds terrible on its own, but gives woodsy scents a rich, "dark" note). But unlike Vanilla Woods, it's not a cedary wood (nor is it a smoky wood). I think the oud note is stronger, but it's not overwhelming because of the addition of a warm ambery note that Vanilla Woods does not have. And I think I detect a smidgen of chocolate way in the background, but patchouli often has a chocolate note, so I think that note is in fact patchouli. I do smell the vanilla as well, which gives this a tiny bit of a "foodie" feel.

Vanilla Bean
Sweet vanilla bean, spiced butter, and whipped buttercream
Sweet, pure vanilla without any cookie, cupcake or bakery notes. It's rich and milky, with a little bit of a buttercream note, but not overly sweet. Perfect on its own, or mix with a strong, overly sweet or pungent scent to tone it down.

Vanilla Woods
A sweet blend of oak leaves and vanilla (dark notes of oak infused with vanilla)
This scent is a similar to Better Homes & Gardens Pure White Woods, and this one also smells like an expensive furniture store. I smell sweet cedar, and it's a sweeter scent than Pure White Woods. I think I do detect the vanilla in this scent, which I don't smell in Pure White Woods, but it's not a "foodie" vanilla, but more like an ambery vanilla. It might also have a smidgen of oud, which is a dark resinous tree sappy scent that sounds terrible on its own, but gives woodsy scents a rich, "dark" note.

Zen
Soothe your soul with this blend of eucalyptus, spearmint, white pine, Egyptian musk, and smooth sandalwood.
Spearmint is the main note, but it's a soft spearmint and it's not overly minty, although I do get a bit of a sinus clearing effect up close. The mintiness is tempered by a clean, slightly laundry type note. It's just a little bit sweet. Looking at the notes, I don't smell eucalyptus or pine at all, nor do I detect a woodsy note. And it's not perfumey, so the musk note is probably very subtle. This is a different scent from ScentSationals Inner Zen, which is a pure, minty spearmint scent without the subtle laundry or musky notes. However, just to confuse things, it IS the same scent as ScentSationals Inner Zen (Meijer exclusive)! This is one of those scents that's subtle (the scent itself is not strong), but the throw is strong.
