ScentSationals Fall Wax Melt Reviews from Walmart - 2017

This is a full review of ScentSationals Fall 2020 Wax Melts from Walmart.

I will add links to the Walmart website where they can be found, when they become available.

Autumn Valley
Soft balsam blended with sultry notes of amber and white sandalwood wrapped in a sweet vanilla base
I smell patchouli, warm amber, mahogany (but it's not a woodsy scent), tobacco, and maybe a hint of cloves and nag champa, and a smidgen of bergamot (although it's not a cologney scent at all). And there's something a tiny bit foodie in there, perhaps tonka/vanilla. It's a very rich, sweet, warm scent, perfect for a chilly fall night. I adore this scent! The label says "golden amber & balsam", and the amber is definitely in there, but no balsam, pine, or woodsy notes at all. The scent lasted all day, at least 12 hours, and probably would have gone longer if I hadn't turned off the warmer for the evening. Looking at the notes, there's the amber and vanilla, but this scent is so complex that I'm surprised there aren't more notes!

Celestial
A woodland glade of aromatic greens freshened with ozone boasts cozy florals, tree bark and forest leaves wrapped with a blanket of soft plaid, amber and musk
This is a very rich, buttery, kind of salty men's cologne scent with a deep, rich mahogany note and possibly a hint of something foodie like caramel. It's nothing like Better Homes & Gardens Moonlit Magic Pumpkin though, and it's similar to both Better Homes & Gardens Mahogany & Sandalwood and ScentSationals Agave Lime. I like it, but the scent pretty much disappeared within 2 hours.

Lemon Blueberry Donuts
Delicious blueberries baked in a fresh donut mixed with a hint of lemon zest, vanilla, and brown sugar
If you're looking for an authentic blueberry scent that's not the usual fake blueberry muffin type scent, THIS IS IT!! It smells like real blueberry compote with a donut note (and not just a bakery note, but specifically donut... how do they do that??). It's a sweet scent, but not that chemical sweetness that you can taste in the back of your throat. The blueberry has a very slight acidic quality and a teensy smidgen of tartness that lends to the authenticity, and even though I don't smell lemon per se, the acidity is probably due to the citrus of the lemon. Incredible, hoard-worthy scent!

Marshmallow Crispies
Orange, lemon, lime and cherry sweetened with pure sugarcane and a hint of vanilla
Marshmallow Crispies is similar to Better Homes & Gardens Orange Buttercream Cupcake, but done right! It too smells like Fruit Loops cereal, but OBC has always had a fake, slightly waxy, nauseating chemical note to me, which is exacerbated by the fact that the throw is insanely strong. This scent is more lemony than orange, richer, and more full-bodied, although it's not really citrusy. It smells almost exactly like Tuscany Candle Lemon Sugar Cookie, and Patriot Candle Lemon Sugar Cookie (which is made by Tuscany), and also a bit like ScentSationals Iced Lemon Sugar Cookies. Oh wait, it might be the same as ScentSational Lemon Meringue Fusion; in fact, sniffing them side by side, I can't tell the difference. It's not an authentic scent (but it doesn't have the strong chemical note that OBC has), but that's perfectly okay because it smells incredible. Looking at the notes, yes I suppose there could be a smidgen of lime as well, although I don't smell cherry. I love Love LOVE this scent!!

Pumpkin Cider
Just-picked, crisp orchard apples blend with harvest pumpkin simmered with aromatic cinnamon and spicy clove bud enhanced by golden nutmeg and sweet vanilla cream
Although this is similar to so many other pumpkiny apple-y cidery fall scents, it's not a dupe of any other ScentSationals scents that I know of. It smells like sweet, fresh, crisp apple cider (not the overly fermented kind, but the sweet apple juice kind), with some pumpkin spices like nutmeg, and maybe a smidgen of cloves that gives it a richness, and a hint of sweet vanilla, and maybe a barely detectable smidgen of molasses, raisin and pear. It's rich and buttery, but it's not a bakery scent. And although apple cider does have cinnamon in it, it's subtle in this scent. I love this scent! It's so authentic and smells yummy! The scent notes are spot on, although they sound much "spicier" than this scent actually is.

Salted Caramel Buttercream
Sweet, creamy buttercream frosting spun with delicious caramel and toffee dusted with sea salt crystals
This is not a vanilla buttercream scent at all, but a rich, buttery toffee scent with caramel, butterscotch, and a bit of salt. It's similar to ScentSationals Harvest Moon, which I love, but sniffing them side by side, this scent is richer, more buttery, and more "full bodied", with maybe slightly less salt and some other very subtle differences. There are no cinnamon or spicy notes in this scent at all, but I think I do detect a barely detectable smidgen of apple way way in the background (and Harvest Moon does have an apple note).

Caramel, butterscotch and toffee are very similar confections. Caramel is made with white sugar and butterscotch is made with brown sugar, so it's richer. Toffee is caramel that has been cooked longer, so it sometimes takes on a very slightly burnt note, but in a really good way.

Twilight Leaves
Falling leaves float amongst notes of woodland berries freshened with shimmers of herbs and spiced woods, rich mosses and gently smoked amber
I smell fruit, maybe cherry or cranberry. And although the fruit is sweet, the sweetness is heavily tempered by a light mossy wood or even a balsam (but not pine) note. This smells a lot like a fantastic old ScentSationals scent called Americana (whose notes were "A vivid medley of tamarind pulp, ruby cassis, Capri fig and sweet neroli", but despite those sweet sounding notes it had a woodsy note and wasn't all that sweet), but it's not the same scent.

Vanilla Pine
Sweet frosted pine needles, shimmering sugar crystals, and soft winter ozones makes for the perfect holiday blend
This is a harsh, biting pine scent that smells like Better Homes & Gardens Fresh Cut Frasier. This scent might have a barely noticeable smidgen of sweetness that FCF doesn't have, but other than that they smell exactly the same to me. It's also very similar to Better Homes & Gardens Sunlit Frasier Fir, although that scent is not as "biting". I expected a more subtle pine scent mixed with vanilla based on the scent name and notes, more like AmbiEscents Pine Wreath (which is soft with a hint of vanilla, exactly like I would expect from a scent named Vanilla Pine) or even AmbiEscents Sugar Pine (which has just a hint of sweetness, although not nearly as sweet as the name would suggest). It's still a nice scent, but not what I was expecting.
